IZHIQ continues the 3-day training in the city of Berat, with a large participation of representatives of the Municipality, civil society, journalists and citizens. With national and international lecturers to initiate \/ strengthen customer offices in major cities in the country.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Law on Consumer Protection includes a special provision (Article 4), which lists the basic rights of consumers:<\/div>\n
\"\ud83d\udd8a\"<\/span>the right to protection of health, environment and safety of life;<\/div>\n
\"\ud83d\udd8a\"<\/span>the right to protection of economic interests;<\/div>\n
\"\ud83d\udd8a\"<\/span> the right to appeal;<\/div>\n
\"\ud83d\udd8a\"<\/span> the right to compensation;<\/div>\n
\"\ud83d\udd8a\"<\/span> the right to education;<\/div>\n
\"\ud83d\udd8a\"<\/span> the right to receive information;<\/div>\n
\"\ud83d\udd8a\"<\/span> the right to use public services;<\/div>\n
\"\ud83d\udd8a\"<\/span>the right to legal protection;<\/div>\n
\"\ud83d\udd8a\"<\/span>the right to organize in associations or unions to protect the interests of consumers and the right to representation in their decision-making bodies.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

These rights are directly inspired by the basic principles of consumer protection, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1985 (Resolution of April 1985) and amended in 1999.<\/div>\n
The countries of the European Union, through the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the European Treaties, since the Single European Act, guarantee a high level of consumer protection in the EU. This level is also a general objective, set out in Article 12 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Institute for Development and Civic Initiatives in partnership with the Albanian Socio Economic Think Tank, is implementing the project “Towards the EU: Strengthening civil society and local government for better consumer protection”.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
